„Freedom of Movement“ - der Blindspots-Podcast ist da!

Ganz frisch haben wir einen Podcast produziert, der über die Missstände in der Grenzregion Bosniens und die Verantwortung der EU für die Notsituation der „People on the Move“ aufklären soll.

Dafür haben wir mit vielen dieser Menschen gesprochen, um ihren Stimmen Gehör zu verschaffen. Außerdem kommen Expert:innen, Aktivist:innen und lokale Bewohner:innen zu Wort und schildern ihre Perspektiven und Erfahrungen.

Der Podcast ist auf Soundcloud und Spotify und bald auch auf Apple Music veröffentlicht und natürlich wünschen wir uns, dass er möglichst viele Menschen erreicht, damit diese sehr gewaltige EU-Außengrenze zwischen Bosnien und Kroatien nicht länger ein „Blindspot“ bleibt.

We have just produced a podcast that aims to raise awareness about the problems in the border region of Bosnia and the responsibility of the EU for the plight of the "People on the Move".

We spoke with many of these people to make their voices heard. In addition, experts, activists and locals share their perspectives and experiences.

The podcast is available on Soundcloud and Spotify, and soon on Apple Music, and of course we hope it will reach as many people as possible so that this EU border between Bosnia and Croatia will no longer remain a "Blindspot".

SPENDENAUFRUF – FOOD IS NOT A CRIME

Rund 200-300 Schutzsuchende - Tendenz steigend - befinden sich aktuell außerhalb von Campstrukturen in einer Sperrzone. „Vojna Zona“ wird diese grenznahe Zone von der bosnischen Lokalbevölkerung genannt. Drohnen, Überwachungsflugzeuge und mehrere Polizeiposten kontrollieren dieses Gebiet und versuchen jegliche Supportstruktur zu verhindern. Offizielle Strukturen, auch die der UN, haben die Versorgung eingestellt.

Die Menschen sind durch versuchte Grenzübertritte und illegale Push-Backs körperlich und geistig erschöpft. Eine Grundversorgung mit Nahrungsmitteln ist ein essentieller Baustein, um sich von diesen Strapazen erholen zu können. Die Zone ist infrastrukturell abgeschnitten und der nächste Laden, der an Schutzsuchende verkauft, ist zwei Stunden Fußmarsch entfernt. Diese Entfernung ist für viele in diesem Zustand nicht zumutbar.

Menschenrechte sind für uns nicht verhandelbar, denn Solidarität endet nicht an den EU-Außengrenzen. Unterstütze uns dabei Schutzsuchende mit grundlegenden Nahrungsmitteln zu versorgen!

Around 200-300 people on the move - numbers are rising - are currently living outside camp structures in a restricted zone. This zone at the border is called "Vojna Zona" by local Bosnians. Drones, surveillance planes and several police stations are controlling this area and trying to prevent any support structure. Official structures, including those of the UN, have stopped providing supplies.

People are physically and mentally exhausted by attempted border crossings and illegal push-backs. A basic supply of food is essential in order to be able to recover. The zone is cut off in terms of infrastructure and the nearest shop that sells to refugees is a two-hour walk away. This distance is not manageable for many in this condition.

Human rights are non-negotiable for us, because solidarity does not end at the EU's external borders. Support us in providing basic food to those seeking refuge! Please share this call for donations in your private and collective networks.

Update: Wir sind auf Vimeo, Instagram und starten eine neue Videoreihe

Es hat sich viel getan in den letzten Wochen und Monaten. Unser Spendenaufruf „Kältefalle Bosnien“ sorgt momentan dafür, dass die von uns verteilten Öfen konstant mit Holz versorgt werden können. Aber unser Team vor Ort möchte auch weiterhin daran arbeiten, dass die Lage der Menschen in der bosnischen Grenzregion im öffentlichen Fokus bleibt - auch nachdem die Kamerateams, die wegen des Brandes in Lipa in Bosnien unterwegs waren, wieder abgerückt sind.

A lot has been happening these last weeks and months. Our call for donations „Kältefalle Bosnien“ is currently ensuring that the stoves we distributed continue to be supplied with wood. Our team in Bosnia also wants to continue to keep the situation of people on the move in the Bosnian border region in the public focus - even after the camera team that were traveling to Bosnia because of the fire in camp Lipa have left again.

Seit knapp zwei Wochen ist der Sammelzeitraum unserer Aktion beendet und seitdem waren wir fast täglich fleißig am Sortieren, Verpacken und Katalogisieren. Wir sind überwältigt davon, wie viele Spenden zusammen kamen und sind super dankbar für jede Unterstützung bei dieser Aktion.
Danke an alle beteiligten Clubs, Kulturorte und Freiwilligen – ohne eure Räume und die Zeit, die ihr dieser Aktion gespendet habt wäre all das nicht möglich gewesen. Im Dezember startet der Transport nach Una Sana. Nicht benötigte Spenden werden an regionale Refugee-, Frauen- und Wohnungslosenhilfen verteilt. Was dann noch übrig bleibt wird – irgendwann – auf Flohmärkten gegen Spende verteilt, die in das Projekt zurückfließen. DANKE!

It’s been two weeks since we finished our call for material donations and since then we were busy sorting, cataloging and packing almost every day. We feel overwhelmed and grateful by how many donations and support we received.
Thank you to all clubs, cultural locations and volunteers – without your locations and the time you put into this campaign, none of this would have been possible. Transport to Una Sana starts in december. Donated items that are not needed will be redistributed to regional institutions supporting refugees, women and homeless people. Obdachlosigkeit konfrontiert Menschen auf der Flucht mit lebensbedrohlicher Kälte. Damit sie den Winter in Bosnien überleben können, müssen improvisierte Unterkünfte (squats) isoliert und gesichert werden. Die Temperaturen müssen um 5-6 °C gehoben werden, was im Zweifel die Bewohner vor dem Kältetod oder dem Erfrieren von Körperteilen bewahrt.

CALL FOR DONATIONS - Cold trap Bosnia

Homelessness confronts refugees with life-threatening cold. In order for those forced to flee their homes to survive the freezing winter in Bosnia, improvised shelters (also known as squats) must be insulated and secured. Raising the temperature in these squats by 5-6 °C can prevent deaths due to hypothermia or loss of limbs due to the bitter cold.
