2022-04-23 14:00:42 1989, two weeks after the wall came down, some people officially rented the little building and opened up the first techno club of Eastern Berlin. It was called the Walfisch. It was happening mostly in the room that is now known as the Dragon Floor. Later in the '90s the Sage people took over the place and added the firespitting dragon. A few years later they cleaned up the backroom which is now the Main Floor and built a swimming pool into the backyard. Sage was best known for playing French House, a commercial genre big in the late '90s, but very unpopular in the 2000s. KitKatClub took over the building on the memorable week-end of 7.7. of 2007. 2022-04-23 13:58:39 This is how the building that now hosts the KitKatClub looked like in the 1960s after the erection of the wall. Doors and windows got sealed by the DDR government so that persons would not gain access to the subway station underneath. The U8 subway, that had been built before the 2nd World War, had a route that connected parts of West Berlin such as Wedding and Kreuzberg, but it had a few stops in Mitte, which was eastern territory. The DDR allowed the U8 to pass underneath eastern Berlin, but without ever stopping at stations such as Heinrich-Heine-Straße. Those stops were called "ghost stations", they had dim lighting and you could only see some military bearing machine guns as the subway passed at full speed. They say those militaries would hang out in the rooms that now belong to the KitKatClub whenever they had a pause of shift. (1/2) Öffnen / Wie
